Louis De Jaeger is the past-President of the Stó:lō Business Association, helping create Canada’s only independent Indigenous Business Organization. Louis speaks about creating an economic eco-system that drives community partnerships, supports entrepreneurial growth, and examines business based on one’s ‘worldview’- profit vs prosperity in a changing business world.
With a hospitality career that spans 35 years from Winnipeg to Vancouver and London, UK. The former Restaurant Owner (Bravo Restaurant & Lounge) turned politician (2015 Federal Liberal Candidate for Chilliwack-Hope) is currently a board member of Stó:lō Community Futures based in Chilliwack. Louis is currently an MBA candidate in the Executive Master’s in Business and Aboriginal Leadership program at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business in Vancouver.
Accolades include: 2016 Al McCacken award for Business Volunteer of the Year for BC (Community Futures), 2015 Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce Aboriginal Business of the Year, 2012 Outstanding Achievement for Aboriginal Business in BC, 3-time winner Dining Excellence Award ~ Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, 6-time winner Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival (wine list awards). Louis attained his certification in Indigenous Governance from the Native Nations Institute at the University of Arizona, holds certification in Indigenous Historical Impact from the Stó:lō Service Agency, and Expanding Skills in Economic Development, from the BC Economic Development Association.
Louis is a past Director of the Chilliwack Metis Association 2011 & 2012, and is now serving his Metis Community again as Director of Community Relations 2017-2018. Louis’ ancestral families are Sinclair and Norquay, with many family ties to the Hudson’s Bay Fur Trade. He is Michif, Scottish-Cree from St. Andrews, Red River Settlement. His ggg-Uncle was John Norquay, first Metis Premier of Manitoba.

Stó:lō Community Futures offers business counseling, and business loans for small to medium-sized Aboriginal businesses that are either just starting out, need to expand or are maintaining their business. SCF works collaboratively with the 24 Stó:lō Nation communities within the Stó:lō Traditional Territory on initiatives to improve community economic development.
